In this story:

The Carolina Panthers selected North Carolina State offensive lineman Chandler Zavala with the 114th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Here is how our staff views/grades the pick.

Schuyler Callihan: B-

There is some concern here with his injury history. He had a knee issue at Fairmont State that didn't require surgery but did have a back surgery in 2021 while at NC State. If he stays healthy, he should compete for not only a spot in the two-deep but maybe even a starting job down the line. He's played six years of college ball, so he's coming in with a lot of football already under his belt.

Tyler Ball: B+

Zavala is a bully of a guard. Much needed addition to the roster adding depth for protecting the pocket and rookie Bryce Young. Zavala has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and while he might not be ready to start he has plenty of room to grow. I look forward to seeing him develop as a Carolina Panther.

Matt Welch: B

Chandler Zavala adds solid depth to a much improved offensive line in Carolina. He’s got a nice frame and is known to excel at throwing guys around. Zavala knows how to make the most out of opportunities, starting his college career at D2 Fairmont State before moving to NC State during the D2 COVID year. He parlayed that into becoming an NFL Draft pick. That competitive edge will help find his way onto the field.
