Matt Corral is 'Ready to Compete' with Rookie QB & Andy Dalton

In this story:
Thanks to an unfortunate Lisfranc injury, Matt Corral never got his chance to prove to the Panthers' front office that he could be the quarterback of the future during his rookie year.
Carolina still likes Corral and believes he can be a solid quarterback in this league but given the organization's recent shortcomings, they can't afford to ride into the 2023 season banking on Corral to not only fully recover from his injury but to be the guy. Hence why they made the move up to No. 1 to presumably take Bryce Young.
To aid the transition from college to pro, the Panthers brought in seasoned vet Andy Dalton, ultimately pushing Corral to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart. So, is there a world where the Panthers carry three quarterbacks this upcoming season? It's possible. Very few starters play all 17 games and as the Panthers experienced last season, having two quarterbacks puts you in a bind when one goes down.
On Tuesday, GM Scott Fitterer told reporters that he is pleased with the progress Corral had made in the weight room and is expecting to battle for a role this fall.
"He's come in he's ready to compete. He's 220 pounds, looks like a different guy when he showed up. He's in great shape. Great spirits. I haven't talken to him directly about anything that's going on right now. I did talk to his agent. There's nothing promised to anyone. You get what you earn."
