With the 114th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers selected North Carolina State offensive lineman Chandler Zavala.

Zavala was a two-year starter at left guard at Fairmont State, playing in 23 games between 2017-19, starting 20 of them. In 2021, he suffered a back injury and missed the last seven games of the season after undergoing surgery. The Wolfpack averaged 172 rushing yards per game when he played and only 93.1 rushing yards per game after he was knocked out. For the 2022 season, he was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. He missed spring practice while waiting on that decision. He played only one year of high school football. His father, Demetrio Zavala, is a chef who is a two-time Chopped champion.
