In this story:

The difference for Brian Burns moving to outside linebacker

"I don't think it's going to be that much of a difference. It's really the total scheme. Everybody is so multiple these days, so I think it's more about the scheme and what's unique about Ejiro's scheme. And what I really appreciate about how the defensive staff is approaching it - getting to know our players and tweaking the scheme."

How players are adapting to moving to outside linebacker

"It's a good group. Yetur [Gross-Matos] has done a good job making the transition. Marquis [Haynes] has looked really good. He's been very consistent. It's a position chance for Yetur and he's really adapted. I thought the first couple week with Yetur, you could tell it was a definite different thing and now you can see him getting more and more comfortable with it. Overall it's been a good group and with Brian [Burns] out, they've gotten a lot of reps."

If he feels they need to add another pass rusher

"As a coach I always think what we got is enough. I love our guys. I love our team. But Scott's job is to continually look and see what's out there and build the roster. We owe that to the team."

Vonn Bell missing practice

"He kind of tweaked his hamstring. It's not crazy but we need to get that taken care of. He'll be fine."

Chandler Zavala missing practice

"He's a got a strained pec. He'll be fine for training camp. Not surgical. Just needs time to recover."

If Brian Burns reminds him of anybody

"I know he hasn't even taken a snap out here but every time I see him walk out in the field I say, 'Man, I'm glad he's on our team.' He's big and long and strong. I gotta see him play more to see who he reminds me of but he's got a presence about him physically and mentally."

Thoughts on the receiver room

"I like the room. Thielen's the leader. He's doing a great job. It's good to see DJ [Chark] back out there. [Laviska] Shenault is a really unique piece. Terrace Marshall's looked good. [Jonathan] Mingo's got a chance. He's a rookie, so he's got a ways to go. It's hard for rookie receivers to develop but he's got the right mentality and attitude. We like to spread the ball around. Thielen is our leader. Chark is our big play guy but I think the ball will get spread around."

Matt Corral's progression

"Matt has made significant strides as far as command of the offense, as far as seeing it. Moving through his progressions, accuracy. Happy with the progress Matt has made."

If the pass that got batted down today concerns him

"No, it really doesn't. I actually thought we would have seen a whole lot more balls batted down because we're not going live and we're telling them not to hit the quarterback. So the defensive line, they rush and then they pull off and more guys are standing there with their hands up. So to be quite honest, I expected a whole lot more balls batted down from all the quarterbacks. I didn't think much about it."
