Quick Hits: Frank Reich Discusses Rookie Minicamp

In this story:
Bryce Young's first day
"Bryce made a great impression. Obviously, mentally and physically, looked the part in every way. Threw the ball exceedingly well. You could tell he was in a good space mentally. Really had a firm grasp on everything we asked."
Thoughts on the 2023 schedule
"I was excited about the schedule. It always brings a different element when you can see who the opponents are and when. You really just focus one at a time but when it first comes out you kind of map it out, look at it in sections. We typically as coaches look at it by quarter. I've had a couple years where I thought that was kind of odd scheduling but I really didn't see anything, any major glitches in the schedule. Everything looked normal and good."
How he'll handle Bryce's reps this week
"Bryce will get a lot of reps. As we said, when he's ready, when it's best for the team, that's when we'll make a transition. But right now, when we come back out Monday Andy will be taking reps with the ones, Bryce will be with the twos. But Bryce is going to get a lot of reps. He might even get a few more than Andy just as the new guy. The good thing with Andy is he's logged in a lot these past couple weeks and as a savvy veteran, he still needs the work."
How Bryce has looked
"I think he's going to progress quickly in anything he does. I think we all kind of know that's the person he is. That's the kind of player he is. That's how fast his mind thinks and how gifted he is physically. You can just see him throwing the football out there how easy it is for him. A couple of us coaches were talking and we like to talk about low-RPM mode where it's just easy for him, you can see that. But it'll pick up on Monday. Getting the vets out there. There will be challenges. There will be bumps and ups and downs but excited to get to work."
What stuck out to them about UDFA LB Bumper Pool
"Productivity. Just with all those snaps -- he's instinctive. Guy who loves football and just kind of has a feel of where to be. That's a big deal when you're looking to pick guys up like that. Do they have a toughness? And do they have the football instincts that you're looking for?"
Early thoughts on Jammie Robinson
"Tough guy. Competitor. When you get safeties that can do well in coverage that just gives you another element, right? You know what the safeties are going to do in run support and zone coverage but when you can match up a little bit right there, it just gives you a one step up and an advantage at that position."
