Quick Hits: Injury Updates, First Depth Chart, Bryce's Camp + More

In this story:
Bryce Young's camp
"Bryce has looked good. He's continued to progress like the rest of the guys on the team. Obviously, there's a lot of focus and attention on him being the first pick of the draft and our starting quarterback. I get that. I think he's checked every box that he was supposed to check in training camp. Taking over the huddle, leadership in the locker room and on the field, his command of the offense are all things that showed up again and again while we were here."
How much Bryce Young will play
"I don't know. We're just going to play it by feel. We're at a different stage than other teams. Other teams won't play their starters in preseason. We've talked as a team from the very beginning and said hey, we're going to play in the preseason. We talked to the guys about that up front and just so everybody understand what's ahead of us. It's necessary for us to do that. New schemes, new coaching staff, young team. Plus, we start the year off with two division opponents, so we got to get ready to go."
QB plan after Bryce takes his reps
"There's a chance that [Andy] Dalton does not play this game. We'll take it game-by-game. We want to give Matt [Corral] a really good look, give him an opportunity. I feel like he's progressed well in training camp and just needs the reps. And obviously Andy's played a lot of football in this league and has practiced well. Again, I'm not going to pin myself down into a corner on any one thing, but I think the general inclination for this game which could change, but for right now, I'm not thinking Andy will play this game."
Miles Sanders update
"He had a little bit of a tweak in his groin, so he could be held out this game. We'll see. I told our players everybody get ready to play because that's what we need. We need that mindset. Get ready to play. Everybody assume they're playing. And then as we go game-by-game, week-by-week, player-by-player, we'll make the decisions that are best for the player and best for the team."
If there's a need for a big running back
"As the coach, you're always a little bit torn and you're always like, no we don't need anybody. I love the guys we got. But we talk to the players about healthy tension all the time. So as the coach I'm like hey Scott, we're good. We don't need anybody else. Love every guy we got. Love our roster. We don't need anybody. But yet, Scott's job is to continue to try to make the roster better and my role as the head coach is to assist him in doing that. We're not looking to bring guys in here just to bring guys in here. If we think somebody comes up that's a fit and has a chance of making our roster better, we'll evaluate it. But right now we love the guys we have. We think we can play winning football with the roster we have excited to keep moving forward with them."
Injury update on Eddy Pineiro
"He's doing well. He's progressing well. We're going to be cautious. Eddy has established himself to be our kicker. We want to make sure that we stay ahead of this thing and wait until he's full strength before we get him back out there."
How much stock he puts in the first depth chart
"Not a lot. We make everything pretty competitive. Things are pretty fluid. We do a lot of things by committee. Right now it's really just about finding out and picking the roster. I think the depth chart will work itself out over the next couple weeks. We still got a couple good weeks of work to factor into really finalizing that depth chart."
