In this story:

Offense having an off day

"Too many pre-snap penalties today. I thought we started out decent on offense, but then the defense had a really good day today. Just got to keep things clean. I was excited about today. I thought our intensity was really good. We just can't fall into a lapse on offense. We've been having some good days, but today was not our best day offensively."

Miles Sanders being out

"Sanders did individual and then had a little tweak of something so we just talked and said let's take him out of team. I think he's fine, but let's just be precautious. I haven't talked to the docs yet."

Pre-snap penalties

"It's just a discipline and focus thing. And honestly, we've been pretty good at camp. A little bit hotter today, a little bit more humid, we're in pads in day whatever so that's great opportunity to work through that because we all know that's what it's going to be like on gameday. We're gonna be tired and we gotta be able to concentrate and work through that."

If Marquis Haynes' injury could impact what they would do at outside linebacker

"It could impact it. We got to see what kind of progress he continues to make because we were excited about the role he's going to play in our defense, so hopefully he makes good progress soon but we'll keep talking through that. Scott [Fitterer] and I have been talking through that a lot here in the last week. Since Marquis got hurt, we've been having those discussions. Don't want to jump the gun early, really want to see how it worked out with Marquis but keeping a pulse on that."

WR Coach Shawn Jefferson in pads today

"I love that man right there. I mean, he's one of one. It means so much to him and he takes it personal. He loves his guys and we all do, but he's got a unique delivery and a unique way of coaching. I wouldn't trade him for anybody in the world."

How DeAngelo Hall is as a coach

"DeAngelo is such a good coach. I mean, I am truly amazed. A lot of times former players it takes a couple years to kind of get some of that former player out of you and become a coach and be able to understand that our days are over, this is their day and we don't have to talk about our day. All we're focused on is their day. He gets that. He's helping the guys. He's making an impact. I think he's bringing out the best in that group. He's got the right mindset. I think he's adding a lot to the equation."

Austin Corbett's timeline

"Still optimistic. He's still ahead of schedule, but we're not rushing that. I mean, we're not anticipating him being ready for Week 1. We'll just be patient. He's doing great. If you watched him move around, you'd say he looks like he could play Week 1 but that kind of injury, you go somewhat by the progress that they're making and then to that injury, there's just, it takes what it takes as far as time. And years of history of that injury tell you don't rush even when they're way ahead of schedule, it's still better to be cautious and don't get him in there too soon."
