Ranking All 14 of the Panthers UDFAs

Recapping what the Panthers are getting from the UDFA market.

Ranking All 14 of the Panthers UDFAs

In this story:

Every year, you'll see one or two undrafted free agents truly push for a spot on the 53-man roster. Who could that be this year for the Carolina Panthers? Cam Peoples of App State is my best guess. However, there are 14 UDFAs in total, so here's how I ranked them based on the likelihood of making the roster.

1. RB Cam Peoples (Appalachian State)

Don't be fooled by the drop-off in yards this past season for Peoples. He didn't get nearly as many carries but he still maintained an average of roughly six yards per attempt. He rushed for 2,830 yards and 33 touchdowns during his time at App State. With Miles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard as the only two locks in the running back room, Peoples could make his way onto the 53-man roster with a strong training camp.

2. ILB Bumper Pool (Arkansas)

Pool is a tackling machine. He was the clean-up guy in the second level of the defense at Arkansas, totaling 441 tackles for his career. He fits the run well but doesn't offer much as a pass rusher or when he drops back in coverage.

3. OG Nash Jensen (North Dakota State)

Jensen has played a ton of football in his career. 70 games, to be exact. He started 55 of those games at left guard but is certainly capable of moving around. The front office/scouts loved his tape and believe he could push for a roster spot. At the very least, he should make the practice squad.

4. CB Rejzohn Wright (Oregon State)

A big, long corner that has a lot of upside. Over the last two years, Wright has recorded 89 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 17 pass breakups, and four interceptions. Carolina doesn't have much depth in the cornerback room, so Wright will get several opportunities to earn a roster spot.

5. DE Jalen Redmond (Oklahoma)

Redmond was one of the best disrupters in the Big 12 Conference this past season and really, over the past four years. Played a lot of defensive end at Oklahoma and will likely do so in Carolina. He fits the body type they are looking for but could still stand to pack on a few pounds for good measure.

6. WR Josh Vann (South Carolina)

Vann had a productive 2021, hauling in 43 receptions for 679 yards and five touchdowns but only logged 18 catches for 296 yards and three scores this season. Inconsistency is what led to him slipping through the draft. He'll make some incredible grabs but also has a tendency to drop some routine passes.

7. OLB Eku Leota (Auburn)

Leota (4.84 forty) isn't as fast as DJ Johnson but he has a very similar build at 6'4', 250 pounds. He will compete for a spot at outside linebacker but has a lot of developing to do before he can truly have a shot to be an impact player on defense. Special teams will be a big area of opportunity for Leota early on.

8. OT Ricky Lee (North Carolina A&T)

Lee was a stout tackle for the Aggies but didn't get the exposure he probably should have. HBCU talent is always overlooked and this is the case here with Lee. Making a 53-man roster isn't likely anytime soon but he could be someone who bounces around on the practice squad before finally getting his chance.

The rest

9. CB Mark Milton (Baylor)

10. CB Colby Richardson (LSU)

11. LB Ace Eley (Georgia Tech)

12. RB Tiyon Evans (Louisville)

13. OL J.D. DiRenzo (Rutgers)

14. OL BJ Wilson (Quincy)
