Roundtable: Grading the Panthers-Bears Trade

In this story:
Friday evening, the Carolina Panthers struck a massive deal to land the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Carolina receives: 2023 1st overall pick
Chicago receives: 9th overall pick, 61st overall pick, 2024 1st round pick, 2025 2nd round pick, WR DJ Moore
Is this a good trade for Carolina? Here's what our staff thinks.
Schuyler Callihan: B-
I'm not shocked Carolina moved all the way up to No. 1. Let's be honest, if they were going to trade up, they had to get ahead of Houston if they want to get the guy they've fallen in love with. Giving up multiple firsts was expected, but including DJ Moore in the deal is a big loss. I'm assuming Chicago asked about Burns to which Carolina rejected. It's going to be challenging to replace Moore, but the Panthers believe they can get their quarterback of the future now.
Matt Welch: B
In theory, getting the first overall pick is a great decision so giving this a B is based solely on losing DJ Moore. I’m not sure whichever QB the Panthers draft is going to have to throw the ball to after giving up WR1. This opens up free agency questions, and with Carolina securing some cap capital recently moves will need to be made. Buckle up.
Tyler Ball: B-
The Panthers continue to ride the QB carousel, at least for one more year. This year under new coaching staff, the Panthers might actually have a shot at building a consistent offensive team. However like all things it comes with a pretty heavy price during a rebuild, giving up their number 1 WR and multiple high picks. There's a good chance that Carolina could take a receiver at no. 39 to replace Moore.
