Schuyler Callihan's Carolina Panthers 2023 7-Round Mock Draft 5.0

In this story:
RD 1, Pick 1: QB Bryce Young (Alabama)
If I'm Scott Fitterer, the pick is C.J. Stroud. But I get the sense that Carolina is leaning more toward Young at No. 1. I don't hate it, but there is some level of concern about his size. It's not necessarily the height, which is a factor, but more so his frame. Can he withstand the hits? If so, then it will likely turn out to be a solid pick. It's a good thing the Panthers have a top-10 offensive line unit.
Last week: Same pick.
RD 2, Pick 39: DE Keion White (Georgia Tech)
I've gone with a receiving option in each of my previous four mocks and that seems to be what many others are thinking as well. Let's shake it up a bit. The Panthers do need to add another pass rusher and Keion White could very well still be on the board at No. 39. Very athletic, speedy edge that began his career as a tight end at Old Dominion. In three years on the defensive side, he's produced 120 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. He's also a native of Garner, NC.
Last week: WR Josh Downs (North Carolina).
RD 3, Pick 93: WR Grant DuBose (Charlotte)
I passed on a receiver in the second round, but not here. DuBose could potentially go in the second, so maybe this is wishful thinking on my part. Nevertheless, this is a big-time playmaker that can eventually develop into a No. 1 option for Bryce Young. In two seasons at Charlotte, DuBose racked up 1,684 yards and 15 touchdowns on 126 receptions.
Last week: LB DeMarvion Overshown (Texas).
RD 4, Pick 114: LB DeMarvion Overshown (Texas)
This kid is going to be a flat-out stud. He's a football player, meaning he will play at a high level regardless of what he's asked to do and where he's asked to do it. He has some experience at safety and has also played down in the box as a linebacker. Really good speed that helps him be a factor in the run game. Scott Fitterer stated he wants to get faster and more athletic at linebacker. Well, Scott, here's your guy.
Last week: DL Zachh Pickens (South Carolina).
RD 4, Pick 132: Garrett Williams (Syracuse)
The Harrisburg, North Carolina native returns home as Carolina goes with a corner with their second fourth-round selection. The Panthers love the duo of Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson, but C.J. Henderson's future in Charlotte beyond his rookie contract is uncertain. Williams can add depth right away and compete for playing time. He plays the ball extremely well in the air recording 21 pass breakups and four picks in essentially 2.5 seasons.
Last week: WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton (West Virginia).
RD 5, Pick 145: G Anthony Bradford (LSU)
No, the Panthers aren't pressing to add another o-lineman, but you can never have enough depth. Plus, is Brady Christensen going to be the long-term answer at left guard? Maybe, maybe not. Drafting Bradford gives you some insurance for Christensen down the road if he doesn't work out AND he wouldn't have to be thrown into the fire right away.
Last week: OL Andrew Vorhees (USC).
