Schuyler Callihan's Carolina Panthers 2023 7-Round Mock Draft 7.0

In this story:
RD 1, Pick 1: QB Bryce Young (Alabama)
If I'm Scott Fitterer, the pick is C.J. Stroud. But I get the sense that Carolina is leaning more toward Young at No. 1. I don't hate it, but there is some level of concern about his size. It's not necessarily the height, which is a factor, but more so his frame. Can he withstand the hits? If so, then it will likely turn out to be a solid pick. It's a good thing the Panthers have a top-10 offensive line unit.
Last week: Same pick.
RD 2, Pick 39: TE Darnell Washington (Georgia)
Although he only registered 28 receptions for 454 yards and two touchdowns this past season for the Bulldogs, some believe he has the highest ceiling of any tight end in this class due to his freakish athleticism/build.
Last week: DE Keion White (Georgia Tech).
RD 3, Pick 93: EDGE Andre Carter II (Army)
Carter had 14.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in 2021. He saw those numbers dip to just 3.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss this past season. After having a dominant year, he garnered more attention as opposing teams slid protections to his side, threw double teams at him, and chipped him with tight ends. I don't know if he'll be a high-level starter in the NFL but worth taking a shot in the third round. Don't hate the pick.
Last week: TE Sam LaPorta (Iowa).
RD 4, Pick 114: LB DeMarvion Overshown (Texas)
This kid is going to be a flat-out stud. He's a football player, meaning he will play at a high level regardless of what he's asked to do and where he's asked to do it. He has some experience at safety and has also played down in the box as a linebacker. Really good speed that helps him be a factor in the run game. Scott Fitterer stated he wants to get faster and more athletic at linebacker. Well, Scott, here's your guy.
Last week: WR Jonathan Mingo (Ole Miss).
RD 4, Pick 132: CB Garrett Williams (Syracuse)
The Harrisburg, North Carolina native returns home as Carolina goes with a corner with their second fourth-round selection. The Panthers love the duo of Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson, but C.J. Henderson's future in Charlotte beyond his rookie contract is uncertain. Williams can add depth right away and compete for playing time. He plays the ball extremely well in the air recording 21 pass breakups and four picks in essentially 2.5 seasons.
Last week: Same pick.
RD 5, Pick 145: WR Grant DuBose (Charlotte)
I'm having a hard time gauging where DuBose will go in the draft. Some teams like him to take him in the early-middle rounds of the draft, others not so much. I think he'll end up in or around the fifth round when it's all said and done. In two seasons at Charlotte, DuBose racked up 1,684 yards and 15 touchdowns on 126 receptions.
Last week: OL Anthony Bradford (LSU).
