REPORT: Panthers Have Received No Trade Offers for Top Pick

Carolina, you're on the clock!

REPORT: Panthers Have Received No Trade Offers for Top Pick

In this story:

With the 2023 NFL Draft just a little over two weeks from getting underway, it appears the Carolina Panthers will be staying put and making the first overall pick. According to Will Kunkel of Charlotte Sports Live, the Panthers have not received a trade offer for the top pick.

Carolina traded away the 9th overall pick, the 61st overall pick via San Francisco, a 2024 1st round pick, a 2025 2nd round pick, and wide receiver DJ Moore to Chicago in exchange for the No. 1 pick exactly one month and one day ago. When the trade went down, there was some speculation that Carolina would be interested in eventually moving out of the top spot if they felt comfortable in more than one quarterback.

Although there's been a lot of smoke surrounding the Panthers rolling the dice on Florida's Anthony Richardson, it appears to be a two-man race between Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud. The cost of moving back would hurt their chances at drafting one of those two signal callers considering the QB-needy Houston Texans sit at No. 2. It's unlikely that Houston would want to move up a single spot but it's even more unlikely that Carolina would be willing to drop beyond No. 2. So when draft night rolls around, you can expect commissioner Roger Goodell to announce that the Panthers have selected *insert QB name* with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
