In this story:

Just two sleeps removed from a Super Bowl loss, Shane Steichen has agreed to become the next head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

Steichen interviewed for the Carolina Panthers head coaching job, but the team decided to go with Frank Reich - former Colts head coach and former Eagles offensive coordinator.

Yes, Jim Irsay is dipping his feet back into the same pool for his next head coach.

Everyone loved Justin Herbert's size and arm strength coming out of college but he was wildly inconsistent. Many, including myself, thought that he would be a multi-year project. That wasn't the case at all. He tossed 31 touchdowns as a rookie and Steichen was a part of that. He took the OC job in Philadelphia and developed Jalen Hurts into their franchise guy in just two years. Hurts, if you remember, was someone that some NFL scouts wanted to make the switch to running back when he entered the league. After his rookie year, there was uncertainty around whether he would be the Eagles' guy.

Steichen is a rock solid hire for Indy. But what does this mean for Carolina?

Well, this will have a trickle down effect with Philly's coaching staff. Quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson is someone the Panthers have interest in as an offensive coordinator but with Steichen on the move, we could see Johnson take a promotion and run the offense in Philly which is in a much better position at the present moment.

If that does become the case, then Carolina may focus its efforts on landing Eagles passing game coordinator, Kevin Patullo.
