Jimmy Garoppolo is 'Closing In' on Signing with a New Team

In this story:
The Carolina Panthers have been tied to veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in each of the past two offseasons. Now, we can officially put those rumors to rest as Garoppolo is reportedly "closing in" on a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that it will be a three-year, $67.5 million, including $34 million in guaranteed money.
In 10 starts this past season with the 49ers, Garoppolo threw for 2,437 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 67% of his pass attempts.
Considering the Panthers now have the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the team likely didn't want to spend that kind of money on a bridge/veteran mentor quarterback. And as for Garoppolo, the Raiders' situation is more appealing solely based on his prior relationship with head coach Josh McDaniels and the fact that there are no other quarterbacks currently under contract in Las Vegas.
The Panthers will look elsewhere for their veteran QB, perhaps Sam Darnold.
