The Panthers did not place a tender on restricted free agent defensive back Myles Hartsfield earlier this week, changing his status to an unrestricted free agent at the start of the league year.

Saturday evening, Hartsfield found a new home and is reuniting with his former head coach Steve Wilks. Hartsfield and the San Francisco 49ers agreed to terms on a deal, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

This past season, Hartsfield appeared in 15 games and made 10 starts. He tallied 59 tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one QB hit. Hartsfield played multiple spots in the secondary, including nickel, free safety, strong safety, and even corner.

Hartsfield signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2020 out of Ole Miss. When he first got to Carolina, they had him splitting reps at running back and defensive back before eventually settling him in on the defensive side of the ball.
