On the first day of free agency, the Carolina Panthers added some hog mollies on the offensive front. On the second day, they add some beef to the defensive interior.

According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Panthers agreed to a 3 year, $22.5 million deal with free agent defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson.

Robinson spent some time in Los Angeles with Panthers' defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, and it is for certain that Evero pounded the table to add Robinson to his short on talent defensive front.

Robinson is a space-eating tackle that will take up blockers to allow Pro Bowler Derrick Brown to thrive. Robinson comes in at 6'4" and 330 pounds and he plays with every inch of that gigantic size.

Robinson tallied 62 tackles in 2023, the second highest number of his career. He accounted for six tackles for loss, a career high. Robinson hasn't sacked an opposing quarterback in two years, but his money is made in the run game and he'll bring a nose for the run that Carolina has missed in recent years.

It is clear that Dan Morgan and Dave Canales believe that games are won in the trenches. In two days of free agency, the new regime in Carolina has shelled out hundreds of millions of dollars to trench players, establishing a new identity in the Carolinas. Their vision make take time to come to fruition, but it's easy to see what they're building thus far.
