Panthers Are Bringing Back Kicker Eddy Pineiro

In this story:
The Carolina Panthers are re-signing kicker Eddy Pineiro to a two-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Pineiro came to Carolina in late August after Zane Gonzalez suffered a groin injury while kicking into the practice net on the sideline during a preseason game. The injury led to Gonzalez being placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Pineiro missed an extra point at the end of regulation against Atlanta and then a field goal attempt in overtime. Either one of those kicks would have won the game for the Panthers. Despite the one-game slip-up, Pineiro bounced back strong, ending the season by making each of his last 19 field goal attempts. For the season, Pineiro went 33/35 on field goals and 30/32 on extra-point attempts.
The team will release Zane Gonzalez.
