Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback "tested out" his ankle on Tuesday and is making enough progress to participate in Wednesday's practice, according to head coach Frank Reich.

"He will practice today. Not sure how much. We'll see how he gets through whatever he can get through today and then obviously we'll put the report out later," Reich said. "He's made progress. He feels better, but there's nothing like getting out on the field and going through a practice. Credit to Bryce for getting ready. At the beginning, we were thinking one to two weeks, but he's done everything he can do to get back here. We'll see what he can get done out there today and then see how he responds to it and then know more tomorrow."

On Tuesday, the Panthers lost last week's backup quarterback Jake Luton, who signed to the New Orleans Saints active roster but brought in free agent QBs Bryce Perkins and Kellen Mond to work out for the team. Neither have signed a deal as of 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
