Panthers Release OLB Justin Houston

In this story:

Tuesday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers released veteran outside linebacker Justin Houston, who requested to be let go.

Houston was expected to be an upgrade from what Carolina had from a pass rushing standpoint opposite Brian Burns, but it never materialized. Houston recorded just nine tackles, three QB hits, two tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and 0.5 sacks in seven games this season.

Houston was placed on injured reserve in early November with a hamstring injury and has not been on the field since. According to multiple reports, Houston, 34, does want to continue playing this season but only for a playoff contender.
