The most talked about quarterback in Indianapolis this week may not be C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, or Will Levis. Instead, it could be free agent Derek Carr, who is schedule to meet with three teams: the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and yes, the Carolina Panthers, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Carr has already met once with the Jets and Saints.

While the Panthers would like to take a young quarterback in the draft, they still need to add a veteran to that room which currently consists of Matt Corral and Jacob Eason. Carr, though, may be a tad too expensive for Carolina's liking. Cheaper "bridge" options like Jimmy Garoppolo, Sam Darnold, and Jacoby Brissett may be more appealing.

Carr is just 31-years-old, so unless they plan on building the team around him long-term, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Carolina to sign him to a one or two-year deal to serve as a placeholder when on the aforementioned names could serve in the same role. But as GM Scott Fitterer has reiterated on multiple occasions, they will "be in on every deal" and for a team that desperately needs to find a solution at QB, they must do their due diligence as they can't afford to leave no stone unturned.
