Gordon was suspended indefinitely from the NFL last season after failing to abide by the NFL's substance abuse policy.
In 11 games last season with the Patriots, Gordon has 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns. The former Cleveland Brown now joins a preseason roster that includes Julian Edelman, N'Keal Harry, Phillip Dorsett, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios, Jakobi Meyers, Dontrelle Inman, Demaryius Thomas (PUP), Ryan Davis and Gunner Olszewski.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said that Gordon is able to report to New England's facilities as early as Sunday.
