New Video Emerges in Patriots Fan Death: Punched By Dolphins Supporter?

Disturbing details, as well as new video, have cast new perspective on the tragic death of a fan during Sunday night's New England Patriots-Miami Dolphins game at Gillette Stadium.

FOXBORO — In the aftermath of a fan's tragic death following Sunday’s game between the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins, additional disturbing details are emerging in the incident.

Dale Mooney, 53 of Newmarket, NH, died after what officials initially deemed a “medical incident.” However, Boston's WBZ is now reporting the death is "under investigation by State Police and the Norfolk District Attorney’s office."

Though details have yet to be confirmed by authorities, witnesses have alleged that a verbal argument in the 300-section of Gillette Stadium turned into a physical altercation during the fourth quarter.

“By the fourth quarter it had just kind of come to blows,” witness Joe Kilmartin told WBZ. “Then you saw a Dolphins fan deliver two punches to the victim, he was wearing a Dolphins jersey, and the victim just kind of slumped over at that point in his seat.”

Though Kilmartin recorded part of the confrontation, a handful of additional videos began to surface via social media, which were shared by WJAR-TV in Providence, RI on Monday evening.

It should be noted that authorities have yet to officially certify the footage as of late Tuesday morning. First responders attended to him before he was transferred to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was pronounced dead just before midnight.

Mooney’s wife, Lisa, told WFXT described her husband, a season ticket holder of 30 years, as a "good dad" and believes that footage obtained at Gillette Stadium will prove her husband did not throw any punches.

In the interim, Patriots Country has been advised that that Massachusetts State Police investigators are looking into "facts and circumstances of the man's death, including the sequence of events prior to the medical incident."

Prior to Sunday's game, another fan suffered an apparent cardiac arrest in Stadium's atrium. Off-duty firefighters Anthony Colella of Johnston, RI and Mark McCullough of Needham, MA performed CPR, and the man regained consciousness.
