UPDATE: 'Missing' Ex Patriots' Sergio Brown Posts Video

Illinois police were searching for "missing" former New England Patriots' safety Sergio Brown in the wake of his mother's death, when he surfaced in a video posted to his social media.

In a strange twist to a sad story, presumed "missing" former New England Patriots safety Sergio Brown is alive and ... well, unhappy and confused. Brown, whom Illinois authorities had been searching for in the wake of his 73-year-old mother's death last weekend, has emerged via an obscenity-laced rant on his Instagram.

"Fake news!" Brown said in the video. He also went to to say he believed his mother, Myrtle Brown, was simply "on vacation." The Maywood Police Department found her body in a creek near her home in a Chicago suburb Sept. 16.

"It has to be the FBI," Brown said. "They came into my house … unwarranted. They kidnapped me twice from home, the Maywood Police Department. It had to be the FBI or the Maywood Police."

Added Brown, "I thought my momma was on vacation.”

Brown has since deleted the video, which showed a time stamp and location of Mexico City.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Myrtle's death was ruled a homicide. The cause of death was multiple injuries resulting from an assault. While initially listed as "missing" in the case, Sergio's appearance on social media is a shock to police and family members.

Police have not officially labeled him as a suspect in his mother's murder.

However, a neighbor in Myrtle's neighborhood said police captured an eerie scene from his doorbell camera.

Said the neighbor, "They seen him taking out the trash, and they seen him have a bonfire where he burned all her clothes. They said he wasn't himself the last few months. He was out of his mind."

Brown went undrafted out of Notre Dame and signed with the Pats as a free agent in 2010. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills before retiring in 2016.

Maywood police initially started a missing persons search for the two. Police said they were informed by family members last weekend that they could not find or make contact with Myrtle or 35-year-old Sergio.
