Titans CB Logan Ryan finds Julian Edelman's thumb injury 'timely'

One special part of joint practices between the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans this week is there are many former Patriots players on the Titans roster. The former players include Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan, Dion Lewis, not to mention head coach Mike Vrabel. The familiarity with these players on both sidelines has led to friendly trash talking early in practice, which started right away between Vrabel and quarterback, Tom Brady.
As any cornerback in the league wants to, Ryan, who played in New England his first four years in the NFL, wanted to go 1-on-1 with the best receiver on the Patriots roster during the practices leading up to the Week 2 preseason bout between the two teams. Unfortunately for him, that player is Julian Edelman, who is currently on the PUP list after suffering a broken thumb before training camp was underway.
Ryan was disappointed by that, and found Edelman's injury "timely."
“I wanted the squirrel out there, but he took a couple weeks off, I guess,” Ryan said to NESN's Doug Kyed at joint practice on Wednesday.
Whether Ryan was kidding around or being serious, you can bet that Edelman will catch wind of what his former teammate had to say about the 33-year-old. Keep an eye out on Edelman's Twitter page for a rebuttal.
