In wake of the Antonio Brown addition, New England apparently felt they could use one of their receivers as trade bait. Thomas would have likely been the fourth or fifth most utilized wideout on the roster and would have provided nothing more than the other Patriots receivers already brought to the table.
New England now has Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski on their active roster for receivers.
