The Las Vegas Raiders are a month away from selecting their first pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, and after the first wave of free agency signings, the view of what the team needs is looking clearer.

Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler seems to have a plan on rebuilding this team via the draft, and with the information, we’re acquiring, a former Red Raider may become a Raider of the Silver and Black.

EDGE Tyree Wilson, Texas Tech Red Raiders

“Wilson is one of the most physically gifted prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, possessing the arm length, frame, explosiveness, and power to be an immediate impact player at the next level,” NFL Draft Bible said of Wilson.

Arguably the most versatile edge rusher in the draft. Wilson has the ability to play any scheme and align anywhere in the defensive line.

Before transferring to Texas Tech, Wilson played multiple positions across the entire defensive line at Texas A&M, including defensive tackle.

The move to Lubbock opened Wilson’s potential to excel as an outside linebacker coming off the edge.

“The redshirt senior’s production caught up to his physical talent this season. Wilson has elite arm length and a large wingspan. He carries his weight well enough to fill roles as a 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level, with the ability to reduce inside occasionally,” Draft Bible added.

Wilson is a beast of a player at 6-6 and 271 pounds, and just at 22 years old, the Raiders can draft a player with so much upside and potential to play at a high level for many years to come.

Although Wilson suffered a season-ending injury at the end of last year, he still managed to be one of only 19 players in the FBS to record 60 tackles, ten tackles for losses, and seven sacks for the season.

Last season, he recorded 61 tackles (36 solos), including 14 tackles for losses, seven sacks, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and eight quarterback hurries, which earned him first-team All-Big 12 honors.

"I feel like I'm a different pass rusher than most. I'm not just committed to power, I feel like I can do power and speed and be effective inside and outside," Wilson told reporters during the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month.

It has been reported that Wilson will not participate in the Red Raiders pro day scheduled for next week as he recovers from a procedure that removed the hardware from his surgically repaired foot.

Wilson also missed the drills at the combine but told scouts that he will perform for teams sometime in April before the draft.

The Raiders' depth on the defensive can be bolstered significantly with a player like Wilson, who can come off opposite of Maxx Crosby and become a powerful asset in the NFL from day one.

The NFL Draft will occur at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., from Thursday, July 27, to Saturday, April 29. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will broadcast all seven rounds.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
