How Adams, Garoppolo Plan to Develop Chemistry

All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams had the same franchise quarterback for the first eight seasons of his career in future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.

Now, after only a year away from the Green Bay Packers, he is on his third.

For any receiver, especially one who played with a legend like Rodgers, it can be difficult to form a new bond.

Even with former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, he and Adams had experience playing together at Fresno State and were good friends ever since.

But now the six-time Pro-Bowl wideout will be catching passes from Jimmy Garoppolo, a quarterback he isn't nearly as familiar with.

Adams said the connection will only develop through practice when he recently joined "The Jim Rome Show."

"That's really how I developed and continue to have confidence moving forward in my career is all through the way that I prepare and the way that I practice every day," Adams said. "So, Aaron and I didn't start off the way that we ended. So, it takes time, and it's definitely a process. But something that I bought into and I'm determined to make sure that we go out there and do the best that we can, get on the same page. That way, it doesn't look any different than it has in the past."

Adams did prove at the end of last season that he could get it done with any quarterback when former Raiders quarterback Jarrett Stidham stepped in.

In fact, the receiver had one of his best games of the season in their first week together, posting 153 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Adams was awarded his third-straight AP first-team All-Pro honors last season after notching 1,516 receiving yards and a league-leading 14 touchdown passes.

Garoppolo, meanwhile, had his 2022 campaign cut short when he went down with a broken foot in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins.

Until that point, he had thrown for 2,437 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Las Vegas Raiders open training camp for the entire team on July 25, 2023.

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
