While the Las Vegas Raiders' franchise is known for its rich history and success in the NFL, there's been a long drought of titles.

It's been 20 years since the club last made it to the Super Bowl and almost 40 since it won it all.

While new Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is not yet too familiar with the Silver and Black and its culture, he does know what it takes to win.

Garoppolo won two Super Bowls as a member of the New England Patriots and was part of three trips to the NFC title game with the San Francisco 49ers, including one in which he ultimately led the team to a Super Bowl appearance (2019-20).

The mountaintop, of course, is still the goal for the veteran quarterback, which he hopes to achieve in his time as a Raider.

"I mean, I'm trying to win a Super Bowl," Garoppolo said in his introductory press conference on Friday. "I know every player says that when they come up to their first press conference, but that's my goal. I want to go get a ring, get the Silver and Black back to where it should be. And I know it's not an easy process. I went through it in San Francisco, lower end of the field when I first got there. But it's a process, but it'll be worth it."

Regardless of his lack of familiarity with the franchise's culture, Garoppolo knows how special it is to be a Raider.

“It's really cool. It really is," Garoppolo said. "Just get to wear black, all black. I mean, that's, that's one of the coolest parts of it, I think. I know it sounds cliche, but it's just, I don't know, it's a lot of little things and I don't know everything about the Raiders yet, but I want to embrace the culture, embrace the history of this organization. The players that I've seen on the walls here is really cool. I get a kick out of history a little bit. So, it's going to be fun going forward. I can't wait to emerge myself in it.”

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo.
