Missouri's Robinson Has Respect for Raiders' Crosby

Missouri defensive line prospect Darius Robinson had good things to say about Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby has become one of the most imposing figures off the edge in the NFL.

Crosby’s work ethic, technique, and passion for the game have made him one of the best players in the NFL. He has also inspired players trying to make a name for themselves in the NFL.

2024 NFL Draft prospects spoke to the media on Wednesday. Among them was Missouri defensive lineman Darius Robinson, who projects to be a day-two selection.

Robinson has not met with the Raiders but had good things to say about Crosby, saying he models his game after the three-time Pro Bowler.

“Maxx Crosby is the best defensive lineman in the league right now,” he told me. “I’m constantly watching his tape. He really sets the standard for defensive line play, somebody I want to play like.”

Robinson said he tries to reflect Crosby’s nonstop effort in his game.

“Just the motor,” he said. “He doesn’t stop. Every clip you watch, he’s going as fast as he possibly can. He’s always turning his shoulders, upper body rotation, always using his length, he just plays the game very well.”

Raiders’ defensive line coach Rob Leonard coached Robinson at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., an experience he said was enriching.

“I learned so much from him,” he said. “Teaching me about keeping my hands inside, carry my hands like a bowl of soup.”

Robinson stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 295 pounds. He said at the Combine he can play “absolutely anywhere,” and he did just that with the Tigers. According to Pro Football Focus, Robinson played over 395 snaps on the outside, 104 over the tackle, and 15 over the B-gap.

Robinson’s versatility makes him an intriguing prospect. If the Raiders select him, he could play multiple positions on the defensive line and reunite with Leonard.

Whether the Raiders need him to come off the edge, line up as a 3-technique, or right over the center, Robinson has the capability.

The Raiders are looking to add defensive line help in the draft. They could select Robinson and add a player who can impact the game in several ways.

If the Raiders can add a player who looks up to Maxx Crosby to play next to him, they will have multiple defensive linemen who can cause disruption.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
