Klint Kubiak's Success Will Depend on More Than Just Him

The Las Vegas Raiders will need all hands on deck this offseason and into the 2026 regular season. They must give Klint Kubiak what he needs to be successful, on and off the field.

In this story:

The Las Vegas Raiders have a laundry list of new aspects to a team they hope will be much improved in 2026. The Raiders have had a busy offseason, and they are not done yet. The NFL Draft is just around the corner and Klint Kubiak's coaching staff has been hard at work.

Critical Coaching Staff

The Raiders' front office wanted a first-time head coach with proven offensive playcalling experience and success. Kubiak checked off just about all of the boxes the Raiders had in mind for a potential head coach. However, with a first-time head coach comes its own set of problems.

Inexperience can be costly in any profession, especially professional coaching in the National Football League. Yet, Las Vegas was sure to find a coaching staff with decades of coaching in and around the league to help support Kubiak in his first few seasons at the helm.

The amount of experience that was added to Kubiak's coaching staff may be overlooked in the grand scheme of things, as the Raiders have already begun making more notable moves. However, the experienced coaching staff Kubiak now has cannot be overstated.

With all of the new players, coaches, and schemes being implemented, Las Vegas is sure to go through its fair share of growing pains early in Kubiak's tenure. However, an experienced coaching staff can help shorten Kubiak's learning curve and that of the team as a whole.

The Raiders will soon add 10 more players to their roster via the draft, and additional moves are still possible. Until then, Kubiak plans to continue working closely with his staff with the draft and offseason programs just around the corner.

The first time head coach recently explained what it was like to assemble his own coaching staff for the first time.

“It's been fun. It's been a lot of hard work, but John [Spytek] allowed us to hire a lot of really high-quality coaches to spread the work around, because you can't do it all yourself,” Kubiak said at the NFL Owners' Meetings.

“I'm trying to work on being a better delegator and trusting guys to go do their jobs and hire some really talented coordinators and assistants, and now we get to go see how prepared we are when we go get in front of these players on Tuesday."

Kubiak elaborated on why he is satisfied with the staff that he assembled early in his tenure. For years, the Raiders have struggled to find coaches and players who understood what it meant to play for the storied franchise. That struggle was only compounded by Las Vegas' losing culture.

“I'm just grateful for the guys that we got. They wanted to be Raiders. Those guys, they have choices, they have options, and they have to make a decision on who they want to work with. So, I'm just thankful that they wanted to come help our organization get better,” Kubiak said.
