Rams Trade Idea: Aaron Donald to Eagles?

Could the Philadelphia Eagles potentially be a trade destination for Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald?

The Los Angeles Rams are expected to bounce back this season and return to the playoffs after an abysmal 5-12 finish last year.

But if the Rams manage to stumble down the standings again two years removed from winning it all, would it be time to blow the roster up and trade veteran talent while the value is still there? It's possible. But what if the deal is too good to pass on before this season begins?

A recent article published by Bleacher Report proposed a trade that would see the Rams trade future Hall of Fame defensive tackle Aaron Donald to the Philadelphia Eagles, a team no stranger to making trades with general manager Howie Roseman at the helm. Landing a star like Donald and adding him to Philly's elite defensive line would significantly boost the Eagles' chances of making it to the Super Bowl for the second straight year, and would likely bring some major assests to L.A. in return.

Here's what B/R had to say about the idea:

"The Philadelphia Eagles are one team that may not seem like an obvious landing spot for Donald, but they would benefit more than most from acquiring him. Adding a player of his caliber to a defense that already reached the Super Bowl last year could push this group over the top in 2023," Bleacher Report writes.

Additionally, B/R revealed that the price the Eagles would have to pay for Donald would likely be a first-round pick and possibly more than that.

"The Eagles would likely have to send over at least a first-round pick and possibly more to pry Donald away from the only franchise he's ever played for, but the move would be worth it," Bleacher Report writes.

Although the cost might appear steep, it would justify itself for the Eagles. Adding the nine-time Pro Bowler would catapult Philadelphia's defensive line to unparalleled excellence as they seek to build upon their franchise-best record of 70 total sacks in a single season. If the Eagles were to execute this move before the start of the season, it would undeniably solidify their status as indisputable favorites for the Super Bowl.

For the Rams, they could potentially remain playoff contenders with Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp leading the way, and would have pieces to build on for the future. But as of now, trading a defensive franchise cornerstone like Donald remains only speculation.
