Rams Ex Coach Pat Shurmur Joining Deion Sanders at Colorado

Former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is reportedly joining Deion Sanders' staff at Colorado as an analyst.

Former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is reportedly set to join Deion Sanders' Colorado football staff as an analyst, per reports from 247Sports.

According to the report, Shurmur's addition to the staff is one that the program expects to have a positive impact on the team's offense as well as the mindset of the players, who aspire to reach the NFL in the future.

"Colorado football will be looking for him to add to the culture they are establishing offensively. And to give the players another resource, in their pursuit of reaching the NFL," 247 Sports writes.

Shurmur will bring over 20 years of NFL experience to Sanders' staff. He most recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos in the 2020-21 season. Before that, he was the coach of the New York Giants, amassing a 9-23 record over two years.

Sanders and Shurmur have yet to have the opportunity to work together during their respective careers. However, it is worth noting that Mike Zimmer, the former coach of the Minnesota Vikings, serves as an analyst for Sanders. Shurmur previously worked on Zimmer's staff in Minnesota, and during his time with the Vikings, he earned the accolade of 2017 AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year. He played a critical role in helping the team reach the NFC Championship that season.

Shurmur and Sanders will now prepare Colorado to open the 2023 season and bring in the "Coach Prime" era on Sept. 2 against TCU, a team that is fresh off a trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship.
