During the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams had the chance to retain Jacob Harris for another year as an exclusive rights free agent, which would have resulted in a cap hit of under $1 million. However, the Rams decided to forgo this option, allowing Harris to become an unrestricted free agent with the freedom to sign with any team.

The decision made by the Rams not to retain Harris as an exclusive rights-free agent was a clear indication that they were ready to move on from him.

However, Harris has now found a new opportunity with the Jacksonville Jaguars. As Harris's agent Evan Brennen reported, the Jaguars have signed Harris as a free agent, adding the versatile tight end/wide receiver to their roster.

Harris, standing at an impressive 6-foot-5 with a blazing 4.39 speed, showcased remarkable athleticism during the 2021 draft, catching the attention of the Rams who picked him in the fourth round. As a relatively inexperienced player in football, Harris possessed immense potential but remained a raw prospect at the time of his selection. Unfortunately, his progress was hindered by various injuries and frequent position changes, preventing him from fully harnessing his abilities on the field.

It is expected that the Jaguars will utilize Harris primarily as a wide receiver, similar to the role Evan Engram plays. He may be deployed in the slot or lined up out wide, while also having the flexibility to align as a tight end near the formation. The Jaguars see his versatility and envision him contributing in various positions on the field.

Throughout his career, Harris only recorded a single reception for 6 yards. He appeared in 16 games over two seasons, primarily contributing on special teams. However, with his move to Doug Pederson's offense, Harris now hopes to embrace a more prominent role.

The new opportunity presents Harris with the chance to demonstrate his growth and contribute to the team's success moving forward.
