Rams Trading Ramsey? 'We'll See' Says COO Kevin Demoff

As the Rams look to get back to Super Bowl contender status, several rumors have been floated as to how they can improve the roster.

It is no secret that the Los Angeles Rams find themselves in a difficult situation, with a lack of cap space and draft capital to improve the roster following a disappointing 5-12 season.

This, of course, has led to rumors and speculation as to how the Rams can alleviate said issues ahead of next season. One name that has popped up is star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who has been mentioned as a potential cut or trade option by some.

While it might seem foolish to trade arguably the best cornerback in the NFL, when asked by Bridget Condon of the NFL Network, Rams COO Kevin Demoff didn't exactly shut down the rumors.

“People are always inquiring about our talent, and it’s not just Jalen (Ramsey)," Demoff said. "We get calls on all of our good players all of the time. In the next few months, we’ll see which direction this team goes.”

"I think for all of our players it's going to be about figuring out what's best moving forward ... but could not be more grateful for Jalen for what he's done for the Rams leading this defense."

Of course, Demoff is the COO and not the general manager, which is worth noting when analyzing his answer regarding Ramsey.

Ramsey recorded 88 total tackles in 2022, 64 of which were solo, including two sacks. He also hauled in four interceptions and forced three fumbles while recovering another.

Since the Rams traded for Ramsey in 2019 he has consistently been one of their best defenders, helping to anchor the secondary and lead the Rams to their Super Bowl LVI victory.

Yes, the Rams might be in a sticky situation regarding how they get better immediately. Trading Ramsey, though, feels like a desperate move and one that the Rams would be wise not to do.
