'Humbling!' Rams Throttled By Broncos; Cuts Next for L.A. and Coach Sean McVay

The Los Angeles Rams suffered a 41-0 slashing by the Denver Broncos in their preseason finale Sunday, but they have to move past it in a quick way.

There's some games where you just throw out the tape and never watch it again.

The Los Angeles Rams might think about doing that after getting the brakes beaten off them 41-0 by the Denver Broncos Saturday, but, unfortunately for them, they can't do that in a roster cutdown situation where they are evaluating down to the final 69 players — 53 on the active roster and 16 on the practice squad.

"That's a humbling night. That's not a night you ever want to go through no matter what your approach is," head coach Sean McVay said after the game.

Of all the games the Rams could have been blanked, the third one is either the best one to do so in or the worst.

The best because, as McVay said, they didn't have many of their starters in so that's an easy scapegoat as to why things went south quickly. However, with two weeks until the Rams' regular season opener, a 41-0 loss is the last thing you'd want players to look back on.

This will really test Los Angeles' mental fortitude and grit as it embarks on potentially another season in which they struggle with a patchy offensive line and young secondary.

So after a thrashing like that, what's next for the Rams? Where do they go from here?

Well, first things first, their main focus is roster cuts, which they have to have finalized by 1 p.m. PT Tuesday. McVay and the coaching staff know who the staples of their 53-man roster will be, whereas some conversations will ensue Sunday about the last few players on the active roster and those they want to keep on the practice squad.

"I've really been appreciative of the way that this whole team has worked day in and day out," McVay said. "The way that they've learned from the good, from some of the things that we want to be able to clean up and the consistent improvement, the growth, and that's why tonight you wish just better for them."
