Rams' SoFi Stadium Ranked Among NFL's Best Venues

SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams and L.A. Chargers, placed second on a recent ranking of the NFL's best stadiums

Since SoFi Stadium's opening in 2020, it has quickly gained a reputation as one of the NFL's premier venues.

SoFi is unique among NFL stadiums for its state-of-the-art design. It has a covered roof, but the open ends of the stadium allow air flow in a way true domes can't. The two teams that play in at SoFi, the Los Angeles Rams and L.A. Chargers, have been very lucky to call the stadium home for the last three years.

With each new ranking of NFL stadiums comes another chance for SoFi to add to its stellar reputation. In The Athletic's edition of this concept, SoFi came in at No. 2, trailing only the Minnesota Vikings' home of U.S. Bank Stadium.

"Similar to U.S. Bank Stadium, this venue also has a transparent roof, allowing for an outdoor feel in an indoor stadium," The Athletic writes. "It received seven first-place votes. It’s not a surprise to see one of the NFL’s newest stadiums rank so highly. One of its best features is the double-sided video board that hangs from the ceiling, circling around the entire field."

Even detractors of indoor stadiums can appreciate what SoFi has to offer. Josh Kendall, The Athletic's Atlanta Falcons reporter, had high praise for the Rams' home despite his disdain for domed stadiums.

“I hate indoor football stadiums, but I grudgingly understand why they are preferred/necessary for NFL teams,” Kendall wrote. “SoFi manages to ‘feel’ like an outdoor stadium while still offering the benefits of being indoors. Throw in the bells, whistles and the fact that you can walk to one end of the concourse and see the Forum (I mean, it’s the Forum) makes SoFi a winner.”

Since its opening, SoFi has become a very popular destination for major events. The stadium has hosted Super Bowl LVI, which the Rams won, the College Football Playoff National Championship in January, several major soccer games and a Wrestlemania in April, in addition to many concerts. With SoFi's uniqueness among major stadiums, it's no wonder why it has become such a major destination.

The Rams have already played two preseason games at SoFi, but their first regular-season game takes place on Sept. 17 against the division-rival San Francisco 49ers.
