Rams Star Kyren Williams Undergoes Successful Surgery - Injury Tracker
JAN 17 WILLIAMS SURGERY Rams star running back Kyren Williams underwent surgery to repair a broken hand he suffered in the team's 24-23 Wild Card round loss to the Lions on Sunday night.
The injury occurred midway through the third quarter after Williams had attempted to come back from a separate injury on the drive prior.
Williams was a revelation for the Rams this season, rushing 228 times for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns, and hauling in 32 catches for 206 yards and three more scores in just 12 games.
He was also the first Rams running back to go over 1,000 yards on the ground since Todd Gurley in 2018.
JAN 15 WILLIAMS INJURED The Los Angeles Rams may have suffered a big loss in their Sunday Night Football Wild Card matchup vs. the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
Midway through the third quarter, Rams star running back Kyren Williams - who has been part of the engine of the offense all season - went down with an injury after taking a big hit from Lions defender C.J. Gardner Johnson.
Williams was shaken up on the play and immediately went to the blue injury tent.
He was replaced in the lineup by backup Ronnie Rivers, who has made a couple of big plays on the drive already.
After coming back into the game, however, Williams was shaken up again on the next drive with a hand injury.
He is now questionable to return and is on his way to the locker room to undergo further evaluation.
JAN 14 LAPORTA TRENDING IN 'RIGHT DIRECTION' Despite uncertainty in the lead-up to Sunday's game, Detroit Lions star tight end is expected to play against the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a knee injury in their Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Per a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, LaPorta is "trending in the right direction" after missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday for the Lions. This report is seemingly backed up by the Lions inactives list which doesn't feature the rookie tight end.

DEC 11 LONG OUT FOR YEAR According to Rams head coach Sean McVay, Los Angeles tight end Hunter Long will undergo season-ending surgery after suffering an MCL injury in the team's loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
The injury occurred in the second quarter, and Long was eventually replaced by Davis Allen.
Long does not have a catch in 2023.
DEC 10 TUTU OUT? Shortly after the injury to tight end Hunter Long, the Rams suffered perhaps another huge injury in the matchup vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
This time, the injury came to wideout Tutu Atwell, who went to the locker room with the medical staff in the second quarter.
Atwell is currently being evaluated for a concussion and is questionable to return.
DEC 10 MORE INJURIES AT TIGHT END After tight end Tyler Higbee was ruled out for the Los Angeles Rams prior to Sunday's game, his replacement on the depth chart was carted off with an injury against the Ravens in the second quarter.

DEC 4 NACUA DIAGNOSED According to Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, star rookie wideout Puka Nacua suffered an AC sprain in the team's 22-17 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Nacua was forced to leave the game in the first half for a brief period of time, but was able to return to action, making a handful of big plays - a pair of which were called back due to penalties.
The rookie finished the game with four catches for 105 yards and a touchdown, passing the 1,000-yard mark in his continually impressive first season.
McVay did not rule out Nacua for Sunday's game vs. the Ravens and seems confident that Nacua could give it a go in Baltimore.
DEC 3 NACUA HURT The Los Angeles Rams may have suffered a serious loss in their matchup with the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Midway through the first half at SoFi Stadium, Rams rookie star wide receiver Puka Nacua - who surpassed the 1,000-yard mark earlier in the game - was forced to exit the game with an upper-body injury after making a contested catch on the sideline.
Nacua was then escorted to the locker room under the care of the training staff, holding his shoulder on his way off of the field.
However, despite walking gingerly and needing time to get to the locker room, Nacua has since returned to the game in the second half, and has been actively targeted by Matthew Stafford.
DEC 2 BROWNS OFFICIALLY ELEVATE FLACCO In a procedural move, the Browns officially elevated former Super Bowl MVP from their practice squad Saturday, as he prepares to make his debut for the team Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
Flacco, now 38, tossed five touchdowns to three interceptions in parts of five games for the New York Jets a season ago.
In addition to Flacco, the Browns also elevated cornerback A.J. Green III to the active roster.
DEC 1 BROWNS STARTING FLACCO The Cleveland Browns have ruled out both their quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and cornerback Denzel Ward for Sunday's game versus the Los Angeles Rams, per a report from Adam Schefter.
With Thompson-Robinson unavailable on Sunday due to a concussion that he suffered in the Browns' loss to the Denver Broncos, they will turn to recently signed veteran backup Joe Flacco. This will make Flacco the Browns' fourth starting quarterback this season, as injuries have plagued the position.
Flacco's backup on Sunday, P.J. Walker, started two games earlier in the season as Watson recovered from an earlier shoulder injury. Then, following Watson's shoulder fracture that required season-ending surgery, they turned to Thompson-Robinson.
Now, just 11 days after signing to Cleveland's practice squad, Flacco will make his first start with the Browns.

NOV 24 KUPP IN The Los Angeles Rams will have their top receiver Cooper Kupp available on Sunday versus the Arizona Cardinals despite him suffering an ankle injury in the Week 11 win over the Seattle Seahawks, per coach Sean McVay.
"Cooper will be good," McVay said in his press conference Friday about the status of his star receiver.
Kupp's availability is good news for the Rams as they look to get back into the playoff race with a win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
NOV 24 WILSON OUT The Arizona Cardinals will be without their rookie receiver, Michael Wilson, on Sunday when they host the Los Angeles Rams.
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon revealed in his press conference Friday that Wilson, the former third-round pick out of Stanford, will miss Sunday's game with a shoulder injury.
Wilson sits third on the team in receiving as he has played in nine games so far this season, totaling 435 yards and two touchdowns on 28 receptions.
NOV 20 KUPP'S STATUS Los Angeles Rams fans had a major scare on Sunday afternoon when star wide receiver Cooper Kupp was forced to exit the team's 17-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury.
According to reports on Monday, however, it appears that Kupp has avoided the worst-case scenario, suffering a low ankle sprain, with the indication being that the injury is not serious.
Kupp also reportedly did 'try to come back' but ultimately remained sidelined.
He is scheduled to undergo an MRI this week to determine the full extent of the injury, and whether or not it is something that he will be able to play through as the season moves forward.
NOV 19 KUPP HURT The Los Angeles Rams may have just suffered a serious setback vs. the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Already struggling big time on offense and trailing 13-0, Rams star wideout Cooper Kupp came up limping late in the second quarter after blocking on a run play.
Kupp quickly limped to the sidelines where he was evaluated by the Los Angeles medical staff for an apparent lower-body injury. He was eventually taken to the locker room for further testing.
Following his evaluation in the locker room, Kupp has now been ruled out with an ankle injury.
Kupp missed the first four games of the season with a hamstring injury and was forced to miss the final eight games of last season with an ankle injury.

NOV 6 AKERS OUT FOR SEASON Former Los Angeles Rams and current Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon, Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell announced Monday.
This marks the second time that Akers has torn his Achilles. He previously suffered the same injury in July 2021 which caused him to miss nearly the entire regular season. He did come back for the regular-season finale and the playoffs, but he struggled to regain his past form after the injury.
A 2020 second-round selection out of Florida State, the Rams traded Akers to the Vikings in September for only a late-round pick swap. In 30 games for L.A., Akers rushed for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging four yards per carry. He had rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown with the Vikings prior to Sunday's injury.
NOV 5 DURANT OUT? The Los Angeles Rams may have suffered a major defensive loss during their Sunday matchup vs. the Green Bay Packers.
In the second half, the Rams' top corner, Cobie Durant, was knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury, and is currently questionable to return, per an announcement from the team.

NOV 4 STAFFORD UNLIKELY TO PLAY According to reports, the Los Angeles Rams are set to be without quarterback Matthew Stafford vs. the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Stafford is currently dealing with a sprained UCL in the thumb on his throwing hand, which knocked him out of last week's loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington.
That said, Stafford is currently listed as questionable, with the Rams planning to allow Stafford up until kickoff before making a final decision on his status for the game.

The team announced that it is activating quarterback Dresser Winn from the practice squad, which could be an indication that Matthew Stafford will miss Sunday's game with a thumb injury.

NOV 1 STAFFORD OUT OF PRACTICE According to head coach Sean McVay, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford did not participate in practice on Wednesday, as he continues to recover from a thumb injury he suffered vs. the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
McVay was clear that Stafford remains day-to-day in his recovery, and that he has not been ruled out for the team's trip to Lambeau to take on the Green Bay Packers.
According to McVay, Stafford is likely to be a game-time decision on Sunday. He also indicated that injured reserve is not an option for the 35-year-old.
Should Stafford be unable to go, Brett Rypien would likely get the start.
OCT 30 STAFFORD DAY-TO-DAY Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford could be set for a stint on the sideline after suffering an injury in Sunday's 43-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Rams coach Sean McVay, the 35-year-old signal caller suffered a sprained UCL in his right thumb, which will make him "day-to-day" in terms of availability.
Prior to being pulled from Sunday's game in the second half, Stafford completed 13 of his 22 passes for 162 yards with a touchdown and an interception. In his absence backup Brett Rypien finished out the game, completing five of his 10 passes for 42 yards.
The Rams will look to rebound from the blowout loss with a win against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
OCT 29 STAFFORD HURT The Los Angeles Rams may have suffered a major setback in their attempt to come back vs. the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
After their opening drive of the second half, which resulted in a touchdown, Stafford came up injured after catching the ensuing two-point conversion pass from Tutu Atwell, which cut the Dallas lead to two scores.
Shortly after the injury, Stafford was taken to the locker room for further evaluation.
Stafford then emerged from the locker room, but did not re-enter the game, and spent the remainder of the drive on the sidelines, still in pads.
Brett Rypien has replaced Stafford in the lineup.
OCT 29 DURANT QUESTIONABLE Los Angles Rams defensive back Cobie Durant has been knocked out of the team's Sunday matchup with the Dallas Cowboys with a shoulder injury.
The injury occurred early in what has already been a disastrous first half of L.A.'s Sunday, with the team trailing 26-3 with more than 11 minutes to go in the second quarter.
Per an announcement from the Rams, Durant is currently questionable to return.
OCT 29 INACTIVES RELEASED The Los Angeles Rams will be without starting right tackle Rob Havenstein due to a calf injury as they get set to face the Dallas Cowboys.

OCT 28 HENDERSON MOVE The Rams on Saturday activated running back Darrell Henderson up from their practice squad for Sunday’s game vs. the Dallas Cowboys.
Henderson is a recent boomerang-back signing due to injuries and last week served as the Rams’ surprise starter. He is likely to play the same role on Sunday at 4-2 Dallas.

OCT 22 YEAST HURT The Los Angeles Rams have gotten banged up early on vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on both sides of the ball on Sunday.
But given their lack of depth in the secondary, the injury to safety Russ Yeast may have been the biggest.
In the first quarter of Sunday's matchup, Yeast was the victim of a blindside block by Steelers receiver George Pickens and was slow to get up after the play, suffering an apparent hip injury.
Yeast eventually went to the medical tent and emerged wearing the same hip apparatus quarterback Matthew Stafford used after his injury against the Indianapolis Colts a couple of weeks ago.
Yeast is currently questionable to return.

On the other hand, the Steelers' report changed in a huge way with Watt landing on it. The 2021 Defensive Player of the Year just suffered his injury on Thursday, so his status for Sunday's game will certainly be one to watch. Freiermuth also went from full to limited participation, another big blow for Pittsburgh.

OCT 18 RIVERS TO IR The Los Angeles Rams reportedly placed backup running back Ronnie Rivers on injured reserve Wednesday afternoon, meaning that he will miss at least the next four games.
Rivers suffered a PCL sprain in the team's win over the Cardinals last week.
Starter Kyren Williams was also injured in the win over Arizona, but will not be designated to IR.
In replacement of Williams and Rivers, rookie Zach Evans will likely get the start. The Rams also promoted Royce Freeman to the active roster and signed both Darrell Henderson and Myles Gaskin.
OCT 16 TOP TWO BACKS OUT? The Los Angeles Rams suffered a pair of key injuries on Sunday in their win over the Arizona Cardinals, with their top two running backs - Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers - both leaving the game with injuries.
Williams, who ran for 158 yards and a score vs. Arizona, suffered an ankle injury late, and according to reports is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.
Rivers is also set to undergo an MRI on Monday after suffering what the Rams reportedly believe to be a PCL sprain.
Should that be the case, Rivers could miss multiple weeks.
Should both be forced to miss Sunday's game vs. the Steelers, rookie Zach Evans could get the nod as the starter.
OCT 15 NOTEBOOM INACTIVE The Los Angeles Rams will be without starting right guard Joe Noteboom vs. the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon, the team announced.
Kevin Dotson will likely replace Noteboom in the lineup.
In some good news for the Rams, however, defensive end Ernest Jones will be active and start the game.

OCT 13 FRIDAY UPDATE Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay gave updates before Friday's practice on linebacker Ernest Jones (knee) and offensive lineman Joe Noteboom (groin).
Both are questionable for Sunday's contest with the Arizona Cardinals.
In the event Jones, who wears the "green dot" for Los Angeles, cannot play in Week 6, veteran safety Jordan Fuller will take over play-calling duties. He's the most experienced candidate for that role, but the Rams can pivot elsewhere if need be.

For the Rams, the biggest concern is the status of Jones, one of the leaders for a young defense. Coach Sean McVay said Jones is dealing with some swelling in his knee, but doesn't expect it to impact his availability on Sunday. Against the run-heavy Cardinals, the Rams hope their leading tackler can suit up.
Other than that, two offensive linemen landing on the injury report is also a concern. Noteboom is still dealing with the injury that kept him out of Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, while Dotson is a new addition to the report.
On the other side, Brown is easily the most notable name for the Cardinals. He is Arizona's leading receiver with 25 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns, and with an unproven quarterback in Joshua Dobbs, losing Brown would be a big blow for Arizona's offense.
OCT 10 BROWN TO IR The Los Angeles Rams suffered a significant loss on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, with defensive lineman Bobby Brown III leaving the game a lower-body injury.
On Tuesday, the severity of that injury was revealed, with Brown set to miss 5-7 weeks with a sprained MCL, per coach Sean McVay.
"Fortunate news on Bobby Brown," McVay said. "He just got his MCL, it was a grade three sprain. He should be out five to seven weeks, so he'll probably be a candidate for short-term IR. Initially, we were thinking that might've been potentially the year, so grateful for that. Not ideal in general, but he was able to come out with what I thought was going to be a worse injury just based on our initial observation so that was a positive thing.”
As a result of that prognosis, the Rams have moved Brown to the injured reserve list.
OCT 8 RAMS VS EAGLES INACTIVES The Los Angeles Rams are set to take the field in a big-time matchup vs. the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Unfortunately, they will have to do so without a handful of key contributors, including offensive lineman Joe Noteboom, and receiver DeMarcus Robinson.
In some good news for L.A. edge Ochaun Mathis and star wideout Cooper Kupp are both active vs. Philadelphia.

OCT 6 NOTEBOOM OUT? The Los Angeles Rams finally received the big news they've been waiting for on Friday when coach Sean McVay announced the return of star receiver Cooper Kupp.
However, following the good news from McVay, the bad came in the form of the Rams' team website announcing that starting left tackle Joe Noteboom is officially ruled out versus the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, while defensive end Desjuan Johnson is "doubtful" after having thumb surgery.
In addition to the return of Kupp, offensive tackle Alaric Jackson is listed as "questionable" for Sunday but is expected to play, according to McVay.

SEPT 28 NACUA AND NOTEBOOM FULL GO Some key players for the Los Angeles Rams have been a bit banged up since the beginning of the season.
But on Thursday, the Rams got some good news in that regard, with rising star rookie receiver Puka Nacua and offensive lineman Joe Noteboom both full participants in practice.
However, it wasn't all good news for L.A., with receiver Ben Skowronek (achilles), tight end Tyler Higbee (achilles) and tackle Alaric Jackson (hamstring) all sidelined in practice.
The Rams will update the report after Friday's practice.
SEPT 25 INACTIVES VS BENGALS The Los Angeles Rams are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in a Super Bowl LVI rematch.
And just ahead of the game, the Rams got some good news, with rising star rookie wideout Puka Nacua officially active for the game.
The Rams also released their inactives, headlined by rookie running back Zach Evans and offensive lineman Kevin Dotson.
Tackle Warren McClendon and defensive lineman Earnest Brown IV rounded out the inactives.

SEPT 23 NACUA LIMITED The Los Angeles Rams may be without breakout rookie receiver Puka Nacua against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.
After not practicing on Thursday, Nacua was limited in practice on Friday with an oblique injury.
Nacua's status should become less cloudy following Saturday's injury report once he gets a designation for Monday's game. However, the fact that he has moved from not practicing to a limited fashion should give the Rams some optimism that he will play.
SEPT 17 NOTEBOOM INJURED Los Angeles Rams starting right guard Joe Noteboom was forced to exit the team's Sunday matchup with the 49ers.
Noteboom walked off of the field under his own power but has yet to return.
He was replaced by Tremayne Anchrum and is currently questionable to return.
SEPT 17 AKERS DEACTIVATED The Los Angeles Rams will be without running back Cam Akers as they are set to host NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.
According to a report from Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, Akers was deactivated on Sunday as rumors of a trade continue to swirl after he rushed for 29 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in the Rams' Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Other Rams inactives include running back Zach Evans, guard Kevin Dotson, tackle Warren McClendon and defensive lineman Desjuan Johnson.
SEPT 16 FREEMAN, TRAMMELL CALLED UP The Los Angeles Rams are bringing two players up from their practice squad.
According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, running back Royce Freeman and receiver Austin Trammell will come up from the practice squad and suit up against the San Francisco 49ers.
This could mean that rookie receiver Puka Nacua, who dazzled in the team's Week 1 win against the Seattle Seahawks, may not suit up due to an oblique injury.
SEPT 15 NACUA QUESTIONABLE The Los Angeles Rams have listed standout rookie wideout Puka Nacua as questionable for the team's Week 2 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers due to an oblique injury.
According to head coach Sean McVay, Nacua should be ready to go for the game, however.
“From an injury standpoint as far as the game status, the only guy that'll be listed as questionable is (WR) Puka (Nacua)," McVay said. "He'll be just limited today, but I know that questionable status is we are expecting him to be ready to go. We're being smart with him. You guys saw what a physical performance he had last week. He's been involved in every part of it. We just wanted to make sure that we're doing everything we can to get him feeling as good as possible by Sunday."
Nacua is coming off of an electric rookie debut on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, in which he hauled in 10 catches for 119 yards on 15 targets.
Three other Rams were also listed as questionable on Friday, including linebacker Ernest Jones and offensive lineman Coleman Shelton.

SEPT 13 BENNET TO NFI Los Angeles Rams rookie backup quarterback Stetson Bennett has been sent to the Reserve/NFI list with an 'undisclosed' injury.
According to coach Sean McVay, the issue is unrelated to his shoulder injury, but he offered no further comment on the matter.
SEPT 8 KUPP TO IR? The Los Angeles Rams played a good portion of last season without arguably their top offensive weapon in receiver Cooper Kupp.
And now, it seems as though the 2023 season could begin in a similar way.
According to Rams coach Sean McVay, Kupp could be one of three players, alongside rookie QB Stetson Bennett and tight end Hunter Long, that could end up being designated to the injured reserve list.
McVay described the chance to lose all three players as a 'definite possibility.' Should the players be designated to IR, they would be forced to miss at least four games.
JUNE 28 RAMSEY SURGERY Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey underwent knee surgery on Friday and the former Rams star is expected to be out until December.
Ramsey, who starred with L.A. before being traded to Miami for a third-round pick this offseason, tweeted on Friday to thank fans for support and promising to "attack this rehab."
"Adversity is opportunity!'' Ramsey tweeted, hoping to make a comeback at the end of this season.

Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver Tyler Lockett was injured in December with a hand injury, with many expecting him to be out for the remainder of the regular season.
But, just one week after his injury, Lockett was back on the field vs. the Jets.
However, Lockett was injured yet again in the matchup vs. New York, this time with a shin injury, and was questionable for the Seahawks' season finale
That said, Pete Carroll told the media on Friday that expects Lockett to take the field in the regular season finale, as the Seahawks make one final push for a playoff spot.
In 2022, Lockett has caught 80 passes for 979 yards, to go along with eight touchdowns.
He is just 21 yards shy of his fourth-straight 1,000-yard season.
