Ravens CB Jalyn Armour-Davis Looking To ‘Build On Consistency’

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis is competing to see more playing time after only playing in four games in 2022.

After only playing in four games as a rookie in 2022, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis could be poised for a bigger role this season.

Armour-Davis is competing for more playing time opposite Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphery. With an opportunity to start for Baltimore’s defense within his grasp, the second-year cornerback hopes to show how much he’s improved since his rookie season.

“Growth,” Armour-Davis said on what he wants to show. “Growth as a player [and] being healthy. My biggest thing is trying to build on consistency. Having ups and downs, it’s nice when you make a good play every now and then, but you can’t give up plays. My main thing is consistently rising and no ups and downs in the heartbeat, just trying to go up.”

Armour-Davis played collegiately at Alabama and gone taken in the fourth round with the No. 119 overall pick in the 2022 draft. He appeared in the Ravens’ first three games, then only played in one more game on Nov. 7 against the New Orleans Saints before a hip injury landed him on the Injured Reserve for the rest of the season.

“It was some ups and downs,” Armour-Davis said. “More downs than ups but at the end of the day, it was things that I learned from. At the end of the day, I was able to experience some things and was able to pick up on things — things I did well, things I didn’t do well, things I would want to feel again and things I never want to feel again.”

Armour-Davis added: “My biggest thing is building every single day. Even if you don’t have your best day, learn from whatever you did wrong that day and just build on not bringing the negativity to the next day.”

Baltimore allowed the fifth-most passing yards per game (232.2), though they were also tied for the fifth-fewest passing touchdowns (20) in 2022. As a whole, the Ravens' defense allowed the fourth fewest points per game (18.53) last season.

If Armour-Davis can improve in his second season and make good use of the lessons he learned from his rookie year, he can make a strong Baltimore defense even better.
