Lamar Jackson 'Best Thing' Leaving Ravens? - NFL.com

As the Lamar Jackson saga continues this offseason, NFL.com lists the quarterback as a free agent who could benefit from a new team.

There are few players that, when completely healthy, are more electrifying than Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson

The former MVP is must-see television and has had no trouble dicing up even the best opposing defenses. However, Jackson might be on the move this offseason if he and the Ravens can't agree on a new contract.

Of course, there is no telling what will happen with Jackson, but Adam Rank of NFL.com believes it is time for the superstar quarterback to move on to a new team.

Look, Lamar. It feels like the Ravens don't love you. You are a former league MVP and can't get the contract you are looking for. And yet, the Ravens traded for an off-ball linebacker (Roquan Smith) during the middle of the season, and that dude got a lucrative extension.

This situation in Baltimore is more heartbreaking than every episode of The Last of Us. We can sit here and wax poetic and stuff, but it's just going to be better if you move on. And if you travel south to Atlanta, make Kyle Pitts better, OK?

Despite only appearing in 12 games, Jackson recorded 3,006 yards of total offense and 20 touchdowns. If you take away his 3,006 yards, the Ravens only recorded 2,754 yards of total offense and 13 touchdowns.

Simply put, Jackson is the Ravens' offense, for better or worse. That being said, would it benefit him to seek out greener pastures? First, it is important to note the Ravens can apply the franchise tag. It wouldn't guarantee he plays under the tag, but the option is there.

Should Jackson leave, the team that ultimately trades for him would likely have to empty the cupboard to do so and then sign him to a lucrative deal, which could make building around the quarterback tricky.

Ultimately, there is no telling if Baltimore and Jackson will agree to a reasonable contract that benefits both parties. If Rank is right, though, the bidding war for a quarterback of Jackson's caliber will be extreme.
