The QB Dilemma Facing The Colts That Could Lead Them to Ravens' Lamar Jackson

The Indianapolis Colts and the Lamar Jackson rumors won't go away with one NFL analyst stating that the Colts' decision on what type of quarterback they want could lead them to Jackson.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Indianapolis Colts have some decisions to make. With Lamar Jackson seemingly no closer to agreeing to terms of a new contract and the Colts in dire need of a new quarterback, an interesting thought has been circulating of late.

The Colts and Ravens enter negotiations to send Jackson to Indianapolis, and the No. 4 overall pick goes to Baltimore.

NFL.com thinks the Colts' decision to draft a quarterback prospect who needs time to develop, compared to getting a known commodity in Jackson is the main sticking point to the idea.

"The Colts, if two quarterbacks are gone off the board, we know they need a quarterback, which one will they go with," Zierlein said. "Do they go with the developmental [Will] Levis or the developmental [Anthony] Richardson? Those are both guys that are going to take time.

"Will they get more aggressive and go with a guy who is not a developmental player in Lamar Jackson, and if that happens, then of course, I'm assuming that Baltimore would want that done before the draft so they can get their hands on the No. 4 pick. Then would the Ravens lean into the young developmental quarterback at No. 4?"

What Zierlein is suggesting is an interesting thought. Is the prospect of drafting a quarterback who will need time to develop something the Colts don't want? With Lamar clearly in doubt over his future with the Ravens, could Baltimore have an out with this swap idea?

Given that the NFL Draft is fast approaching, it would need to gather pace rather quickly if this swap were to happen. But, as long-time NFL writer Peter King stated, the money that Jackson would want can't be too steep for the Colts, and if it isn't, a straight swap for Jackson and the No.4 pick could take place.

With Jackson's future up in the air in Baltimore, could the situation be rectified by sending him to Indianapolis and the Ravens getting a potential generational quarterback in return? It could solve problems for both organizations at face value if it gets done.
