Ravens Reportedly Tried to Trade for Now-Cowboys QB Trey Lance

In this story:
The Baltimore Ravens have seemingly been interested in upgrading at the backup quarterback position even before they locked down starter Lamar Jackson back in April. While Tyler Huntley has performed well, the injury potential likely scares the Ravens.
Offseason targets this offseason were reportedly Baker Mayfield and Jacoby Brissett among others. Another recent target was reportedly 49ers signal caller, Trey Lance. On Friday, Lance was traded to the Dallas Cowboys for nothing more than a 2024 fourth-rounder. Seemingly a bargain.
The Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens are two teams that had conversations with San Francisco about a possible trade for Trey Lance.

In the NFC, the Detroit Lions also showed interest, per sources.
Most of the early discussions about a trade involved a 6th rounder that…
Logically, during April's draft, there was talk of interest in Georgia's Stetson Bennett IV, who played for new Ravens' offensive coordinator Todd Monken. That was before Baltimore struck the deal with Jackson.
Obviously, San Francisco held out for the best deal they could get for Lance, which is telling, considering they're getting nothing more than a fourth-round pick in next year's NFL Draft. That indicates other teams that were reportedly interested - Buffalo, Detroit, Atlanta - were offering less. Less than a fourth-rounder for a No. 3 overall pick just three drafts ago.
San Francisco traded three first-round picks and a third-rounder to the Dolphins in 2021 to move up from No. 12 and draft the North Dakota State product No. 3 overall.
San Francisco has paid Lance $27 million for less than 300 snaps and for just four starts. He now gets a fresh start in Dallas, probably playing as the 3rd string emergency quarterback behind Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush.
