Ravens No. 1 AFC Contender to 'Unseat' Chiefs?

The Baltimore Ravens have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL on paper, and analyst Sal Paolantonio thinks they are the one team who can bring down the Kansas City Chiefs.

Many are sleeping on what the Baltimore Ravens can do this upcoming season, and when it comes to the AFC picture, some have Lamar Jackson's team in the middle of the pack.

But is that wise? With a new offensive coordinator in Todd Monken and new, explosive weapons in Odell Beckham Jr., Nelson Agholor, and draftee Zay Flowers, Baltimore has the means to mix it with the best...and NFL Analyst Sal Paolantonio thinks so too.

“I am focused on this new-look offense of the Baltimore Ravens,” Paolantonio said on ESPN’s GetUp. “Beginning with Zay Flowers out of Boston College. A smart, tough, fast wide receiver who’s going to open up everything for that offense. Open it up for Mark Andrews, open up things for OBJ. Zay Flowers is a guy that I’m going to watch this training camp as Todd Monken installs that high-speed, high-energy offense for Lamar Jackson.

“I think the Baltimore Ravens are the No. 1 team that can unseat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC as the Super Bowl contenders in the AFC.”

Paolantonio isn't wrong, as last season, the Ravens led the AFC North and had already beaten Joe Burrow's Bengals. It was only after Lamar's injury that things stalled.

But if, and that's a big if, Jackson, along with Odell and others, can remain healthy for a big chunk of the season, then there is no telling how far this Ravens team can go.

Challenging the Chiefs is a big statement, but Paolantonio isn't the only one saying this, as FS1's Nick Wright, who is an avid Chiefs fan, stated that the Ravens are the team that scares him the most.

Now, all of this is predicated on the Baltimore offense staying healthy, which is hard to do in today's NFL, as everyone gets beat up at some stage, but the Ravens possess the means to take it to any team in the league.

Under the transformational eye of Monken and his new system, the Ravens look poised to take the NFL by storm this season, and will that mean overtaking the Chiefs in the AFC pecking order? We wouldn't put it past them.
