Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. 'Feels Great,' Offers Rehab Update After Signing

The Baltimore Ravens are excited to see their new signee Odell Beckham Jr. return to the field after over a year away from football due to rehab from his knee injury.

The Baltimore Ravens officially signed free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Thursday as he put the pen to paper. Now with Beckham officially a Raven, the question on the mind of fans is, where is he in rehab?

Beckham's answer to that question may help calm the nerves of those worried about the $15 million guaranteed contract given to him by the Ravens.

"I feel great now," Beckham said. "I'm still in my process of getting ready for September. … It's about getting ready for that, being in the best physical shape, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, all of that.

"It's five months until we're on the field and rolling. For me, that's plenty of time. I have plenty of confidence. It's time to get to work."

It has been over a year since we've seen OBJ on an NFL field. Since he tore his ACL in the Super Bowl win with the Los Angeles Rams, he's been out of the public eye as he spent all of last season recovering. That time away is a major concern, especially with the contract that the Ravens gave Beckham.

While some could call the signing of Beckham a big gamble, general manager Eric DeCosta exuded confidence about their evaluation of Beckham.

"We saw everything we needed to see, knowing that it's going to just improve," DeCosta said. "When a guy has a serious injury, in general, it only gets better. It may take time. Sometimes it takes longer, but it only gets better. What we saw was extremely encouraging and I can't wait to see the progression from March to April to May to September."

As for when fans can expect to see Beckham on the field, the veteran wide-out was non-commital about being part of the Ravens' OTAs. “That’s be a discussion with the training room, coaches, everybody,” Beckham said about whether or he'd participate.

Whenever the Ravens see Beckham back on the field, they hope to get the best version of the former LSU Tiger, as they hope to bolster a passing game that struggled in 2022.
