Ravens Will 'Get Creative' To Utilize Zay Flowers Says Todd Monken

The Ravens acquired Zay Flowers via the draft and Todd Monken is already thinking of ways to get his newest weapon the football.

Boston College standout Zay Flowers is now part of a Baltimore Ravens offense that is poised to terrorize team's next season.

With Lamar Jackson orchestrating the offense and having weapons in Odell Beckham Jr. and tight end Mark Andrews, as well as Flowers, Baltimore can hit you from every angle.

But when it comes to Flowers, getting a rookie involved in what looks to be a high-octane offense (on paper, at least) can be challenging. But new offensive coordinator Todd Monken knows how he will get Flowers involved.

"I think whenever you acquire talent, you then assess where can you put those players in the best position to showcase that talent," Monken said. "If you have a space player like Zay [Flowers], you have to get creative in ways to get him the ball and showcase that."

Flowers showed out in his final season for Boston College, totaling 1,077 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 78 receptions.

Having that kind of talent for Jackson to utilize will no doubt make Monken excited to get Flowers involved, and getting creative is the way to go.

With such a devasting running game at their disposal, the Ravens having multiple offensive weapons on the outside to get involved makes them a tricky proposition to stop.

And having a talented group to surround Jackson with means he will have less heavy lifting on offense...which is precisely what Monken wants.

"I think the more talented you are around your quarterback, the less he has to burden -- take on that burden -- shoulder the load because you're excited about getting others the football where they can utilize their skill set," Monken said.

Baltimore had the 19th-ranked offense last season regarding points scored per game (20.6), and the Ravens were 8-4 prior to Jackson's injury and had scored under 20 points just once.

Without Jackson, Baltimore failed to surpass 17 points in their next six games to end the year (including their playoff loss).

The Ravens have a host of weapons for Monken to get "creative" with, and that could mean some seriously tough scouting for opposing defenses, as Baltimore has talent everywhere you look.

Stopping all of them promises to be a herculean task, and if Monken gets it right, Baltimore might be nearly impossible to stop next season.
