Odell Beckham Jr., Johnny Unitas Claim Most Expensive Cleats in NFL History

In this story:
Odell Beckham Jr. signed with the Ravens last offseason in a comeback attempt after a year off due to a knee injury suffered in Super Bowl LVI. The Rams beat the Bengals 23-20 in Los Angeles, and Beckham was a big part of the Rams' regular season and playoff success.
Beckham scored Super Bowl LVI's first touchdown on a 17-yard catch from Rams' quarterback Matthew Stafford but left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury and did not return.
The former LSU wideout had custom cleats made for that game designed by The Show Surgeon that were valued at a whopping $200,000. The shoes were covered in 1,494 diamonds. That hardly seems appropriate for shoes worn during a football game but here we are.
Collectors often increase the asking price of game-worn shoes long after they were donned by an athlete.
Let's take a look at some of the other most expensive shoes in NFL history.
$88,000 - Tom Brady's game-worn cleats from a Patriots-Chargers game in 2007
Brady passed for 280 yards and two touchdowns in the 24-21 Patriots win. Just last year, the shoes were auctioned at Sotheby's for $88,000.
$71,700 - Johnny Unitas' game-worn cleats from 1972
Unitas played his last game for the Baltimore Colts in 1972 then sold the cleats he wore in that game for $71,700. After three NFL championships and one Super Bowl win, Unitas retired and gifted the shoes to a friend. In 2002 after Unitas' death, the cleats were present on the sideline during a game between the Ravens and Buccaneers. The Ravens lost 25-0 at M&T Bank Stadium.

$33,050 - Christian McCaffrey's signed game-worn custom cleats supporting The Logan Project
McCaffrey joined the NFL's My Cause My Cleats project which raises money for charity through players donating game-worn cleats in 2023. Those cleats are currently up for bid at nflauction.nfl.com with the highest bid at $33,050, with the proceeds being donated to his Foundation's programs 23 and Troops and The Logan Project.
$15,000 Dave Robinson's kangaroo skin cleats worn in Super Bowl II
Packers wideout Robinson had these cleats made for the second-ever Super Bowl. Per Heritage Auction House, Robinson saved the shoes after a 33-14 win over the Raiders to wear again in his next Super Bowl ... that never came. He sold the cleats in 2022 for $15,000.
