The saga surrounding the Baltimore Ravens and star quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ongoing for months now, and there doesn't appear to be an end in sight. The two sides remain far apart in contract negotiations and the Ravens don't seem keen on trading Jackson any time soon.

That hasn't stopped the endless rumors of Jackson being traded to another team, though. Recently, the San Francisco 49ers have appeared in those rumors, but if general manager John Lynch's comments on Monday are anything to go by, those rumors don't hold much weight.

"A lot of those things I think you're limited by the way our roster is set up and the other thing is, what's your motivation? And there's more than just Lamar, there's tremendous players, MVP type players," Lynch said. "We really like our guys and we like where we're at. We like our complete roster and how they fit for multiple reasons and we're excited about that group. So, I'll just leave it at that."

Lynch did admit that he "looked into" acquiring Jackson, but later said he was happy with the 49ers roster as it is.

The 49ers only started appearing in the Jackson rumors after reports emerged of them taking trade calls on quarterback Trey Lance, the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Lance has only played four games in two seasons due to injury and sitting behind Jimmy Garoppolo as a rookie.

With Brock Purdy's emergence late last season, Lance's future in San Francisco is unclear. Recently, reports of the 49ers fielding trade calls for Lance have emerged. Some have also suggested the Ravens as a possible destination, sending Jackson to the west coast for Lance and draft picks. However, Lynch reaffirmed his belief in Lance again on Monday.

"His mindset is all about competing and I think that's exactly where his mindset should be," Lynch said. "We're excited about the position he's put himself in with the work he's done this offseason to number one, get healthy, number two, improve upon some things that he really wanted to improve upon."

Even if the 49ers were interested in Jackson, they likely wouldn't be able to get him. They currently have less than $4 million in cap space, nowhere near enough for the massive contract Jackson is asking for.

While there is still a long way to go in the Jackson saga, it seems less and less likely that he will leave Baltimore this offseason.
