Saints Defense Must Keep Eyes on 3 Bears

The New Orleans Saints must not overlook three Chicago Bears offensive players if they have a chance of upsetting the Chicago Bears in Soldier Field.

Allen Robinson II

Robinson is without a doubt the Bears “go-to” wide receiver.   He has caught 31 passes for 377 yards at a rate of 12.2 yards per catch.  Robinson accounts for 37.2% of Chicago’s passing attack.   Saints CB Marshon Lattimore will defend Robinson most of the afternoon.  Lattimore has come off of three straight impressive performances against the Cowboys, Buccaneers, and Jaguars.  Hopefully, Lattimore will keep focus and defensive intensity on Robinson.

Tarik Cohen

The Bear’s all-purpose running back has rushed for 37 yards compared to RB David Montgomery’s 225 yards going into Week 7.   Cohen is dangerous out of the backfield.  He is the club’s #2 receiver with 20 catches, 128 yards and 1 touchdown.  He has big-play ability in the screen game if the Saints defensive group becomes overly aggressive for Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky.

Taylor Gabriel

Chicago’s wide receiver exploded in Week 3 with three touchdowns against the Washington Redskins.  Gabriel has done little damage since the Redskins game, but the Saints must not ignore his ability as a receiving threat.   Expect Gabriel to be opposite Saints’ CB Eli Apple or the nickel cornerback which could be Patrick Robinson or Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

The battle will be physical with the Saints and Bears.  New Orleans will have to create turnovers and win the special-team game to dial home a win in Chicago.  This contest will be close with the Saints continuing to lead the NFC South at 6-1.
