The New Orleans Saints are expected to be quite active at the trade deadline this year.

The top two trade chips on the roster, Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara, are likely staying put in New Orleans. Kamara stated that he'd rather retire than be traded while Olave is seemingly working on a new contract to stay with the Saints for the next few years.

But there are still a few other trade candidates on the roster. Players like Alontae Taylor, Cameron Jordan, and Carl Granderson have been mentioned in the trade deadline buzz. But wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is seemingly the most likely Saints player to be moved at the trade deadline this season.

Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon jumped on the long list of media members to predict that the Saints would trade Shaheed to the Pittsburgh Steelers this season.

Saints-Steelers trade for Rashid Shaheed makes too much sense

"It appears the Saints want to work to re-sign the younger and more accomplished Chris Olave, leaving Shaheed as an obvious candidate to join a Steelers team that needs someone to pair with DK Metcalf for a potential playoff run," Gagnon wrote. "Pittsburgh already traded George Pickens, acquired Metcalf and, of course, added Aaron Rodgers. This would be yet another high-stakes move for a veteran.

"Pittsburgh gives the Saints a sixth-round pick for a guy with an expiring contract who likely isn't a big part of their future. Shaheed outperforms Calvin Austin III but doesn't make a huge impact overall."

The Steelers desperately need a wide receiver to place next to DK Metcalf. Aaron Rodgers is making do with the players he has on offense right now, but the Steelers need to add more talent if they want a serious chance to make any sort of waves this year.

With Shaheed sitting on an expiring contract, it likely wouldn't take much to land him. The Steelers could send the Saints a late round pick in exchange for the speedy wide receiver.

For the Saints, this would make plenty of sense, too. They need to do whatever they can to lean into their rebuild, even if it means cutting ties with players like Shaheed. The veteran wideout is likely leaving town after the season anyway, so a trade would make plenty of sense.
