Brees Returns to Duel Murray on Sunday

On Sunday afternoon, Drew Brees will return and suit up as the starting quarterback in the duel against QB Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. The Brees news was first reported by Dianna Russini and Ed Werder of ESPN. Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Brees was on the field with his teammates practicing during a call with Cardinals reporters.
Payton originally decided that Brees would be a game day decision, but changed his mind after witnessing Drew's performance during this week's practice.
From me and @diannaESPN: Barring an unforeseen setback, the #Saints plan for quarterback Drew Brees to start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to sources.

The future Hall of Fame quarterback held to the expected six-week timetable for his return after recovering from surgery on his right thumb ligament. Brees is returning just in time for the second stretch of the season. Saints backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw for 1,206 yard, nine touchdowns and secured five victories in his absence.
