'We Want You Back!': Seahawks' DK Metcalf Makes Al Woods Free Agency Pitch

Amidst multiple scheduled free agency visits elsewhere, Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Al Woods received a pitch from teammate D.K. Metcalf.

The Seattle Seahawks enjoyed an active start to free agency, headlined by the signing of defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones ... but it wasn't all fun for general manager John Schneider.

In need of cap space to continue making moves, the Seahawks parted ways with defensive tackle Al Woods, who Schneider dubbed "an amazing person, amazing player (and) great leader."

Still, the Seahawks haven't "shut the door" on a potential reunion with Woods, per Schneider - and that's music to star receiver D.K. Metcalf's ears.

Upon learning that Woods will visit the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets, Metcalf replied with a gif from the television show "The Office," voicing his interest in keeping Woods in Seattle.

"We want you back," the gif exclaimed - with Metcalf tagging the Seahawks' official Twitter account.

Woods signed with the Seahawks during the 2019 offseason, the same time that Metcalf was drafted; apart from Woods opting out in 2020, the two have been teammates each year since Metcalf entered the league.

Across the last two years, the 36-year-old Woods has started all 30 games he's appeared in, missing four total contests. This past season, he collected 39 total tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks.

In early November, Metcalf that Woods, defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson, safety Quandre Diggs and outside linebacker Bruce Irvin were "were probably the only old guys on that defense that people really listened to."

Woods, who stands 6-3, 330 pounds, brings immense value to Seattle's locker room, something outside linebacker Darrell Taylor touched on early last season.

"That’s a big example because he’s been doing it for so long, so consistently and so well at a high level, everyone has respect for that," Taylor said. "You can’t not respect it because you play at a high level, and you play really good.”

But now, Woods is looking elsewhere - though Metcalf is doing his part to get the sides together once more.
